A message for all teens: Continue your education! It’s so much important than you might believe

Lots of teens drop out of high school these days, for a variety of reasons and the dropout rate is increasing dramatically. Those who graduate from high school often don’t continue on to college, with financial constraints typically the reason. Besides, teens don’t generally embrace the value of higher education and how it might impact their life and ability to have a significantly better future. Many teens are eager to go out and get a job, albeit at minimum wage. Does this shoe fit your sentiments?

It’s unfortunate that, although most parents try to convey the value to be had when you continue your education in college, you might just interpret these frequent discussions as that same old boring lecture. At your age, the future is a faraway, imaginary point. You may rationalize that you have ‘plenty of time’ for continuing education – later, at some undefined point in time. You can’t imagine turning thirty, finding yourself still in a minimum wage job, or being married, with children and a family to support. Unfortunately, this is most often the way things turn out if you do not continue your education.

While your income remains stagnant, your expenses are far greater than when you were young and single. In order to make ends meet, you and your spouse will both need to work. Remember that day care is not cheap.

Here’s a plan you might want to consider to avoid this unenviable position.

1.If you dropped out of high school, get your GED. Your local Department of Human Resources can help you get in touch with organizations to achieve this first step to continue your education.

2.If you have a high school diploma, get a catalog of classes from your local community college. Make an appointment with a counselor for advice on how to proceed, depending on your goal and interests. Ask about financial aid. If you have no specific field in mind, you should look into aptitude tests, which serve to show subjects or fields for which you have natural ability, as well as those you would most enjoy.

Your counselor can put together a list of classes which will fulfill the core requirements of an A.A. or A.S. degree program and for which the credits will be transferable to a four year college. Most community colleges now have online continuing education courses, giving you a lot of latitude in scheduling your coursework around your work schedule.

3.Continuing education certificate programs can usually completed in less than a year. There are an abundance of certificate programs in the medical field which can easily double your current income and get you some benefits, such as medical insurance and paid vacations, which your minimum wage job does not afford you. Some examples of medical certificate programs include Licensed Vocational Nurse and Pharmacy or X-ray technician. When you get your certification, you may be able to use this as a springboard to a higher degree and even better pay, with some employers sponsoring your continuing education! By now, you can begin to see that, when you make the effort to continue your education, the rewards can be great.

4.If you share an apartment or house with roommates, this naturally reduces your expenses, making the situation an affordable way to work while attending school. Taking online classes makes the strategy even easier.

5.Rome wasn’t built in a day. So too, you can continue your education at your own pace. Consistent effort is what’s needed. If take just one or two classes each quarter, you will reach your goal.

This plan does work. So, to all teens: it pays to continue your education. It’s not so difficult as you might think. You’ll be in a far better position before you’re 25!

Judicious advertisement placement strategies to successfully promote your website at the least cost, with the best results

It’s obvious that attracting visitors to your website is essential if you hope to make an income. The more people you attract, the greater your sales potential becomes. However, many website owners think that getting a high ranking in the search engines is their only avenue of gaining traffic. Search engine rankings are certainly essential to your ultimate success. Lots of good content, relevant to your subject area, assures regular indexing, helping bring targeted traffic to your site.

One often underestimated, but major component for promoting your website is through careful advertisement placement, both on your site and around the web. Let’s see just how proper advertisement placement can help your bottom line.

Let’s say you sell vitamin and mineral supplements on your site. You have a page which contains an article on anti-aging skin care. Good advertisement placement practices dictates that the ads which appear to the right of the article text should target the needs of the person reading that article.

For example, affiliate ads for wrinkle-reducing creams, collagen creams and exfoliants are all products the reader may be interested in.

You can also place links within your article which point to your own product store. For example, your article details the benefits of antioxidants and particular supplements. Create a hyperlink which the reader can follow to your supplemental formula to address those issues. This might be most successfully done with a small pop-up window, showing the product, price and full description, along with an ‘add to my cart’ button. This keeps your reader on the same page, where they may find another product of interest. This is good advertisement placement which maximizes your chances of making a sale. Practicing this strategy of highly targeted advertising is far more effective than random placement of ads throughout your site. Optimize every page on your site.

A links, or resources page can also pay handsomely. While most of the links will point to informational resources, categorizing allows you to also point to affiliates, as well as other articles on your own site. Using the example of the vitamin and supplement vendor, you might have a number of categories, such as ‘Health Conditions’, under which you have links to informational sites, such as WebMD or .edu sites, and another entitled ‘Dietary Considerations’ and so on. At the bottom of your links page, the last category might be ‘Other Articles of Interest’, where you list articles both external and internal. For external links, arrange an affiliate relationship whereby visitors who buy from that site brings you a commission. This is a subtler form of advertisement placement which allows you to earn money without ‘beating your customer over the head’ with a clutter of obvious ads. Choose all your links and ads carefully, ones which lead your visitor to quality sources you can endorse in good faith. This reflects well on you!

When you have the time and as your site begins to garner substantial traffic, start a blog. You can then create hyperlinks from your blog to your website. For example, your blog has a post relating to arthritis remedies. In that post, include one link which points to one of your website articles that gets into the specific nutrients beneficial to the arthritic patient. Link to other blogs as well. See if you can’t get a reciprocal link from that blog owner. Always remember, quality of information counts. This will not only bring you new traffic, but will raise your rankings in the search engines. Here again, this is a subtle method of advertisement placement, one that pays.

Submit articles to reputable article directories with high traffic, as well as quality e-newsletters in the health field, with a substantial number of subscribers. Your byline and resource box allows you to reach tens of thousands of potential new customers.

A careful plan of advertisement placement can boost your traffic and sales tremendously, at little cost. Quality and relevance is the key!

For the very best cup of coffee, step up to whole beans, freshly ground in a coffee grinder!

Americans love their coffee. Some of us drink it morning, noon and night. If you now use commercially produced coffee which is already ground, there are a number of coffee manufacturers which make a more than acceptable brew for everyday use. The small growers are impinging on their market, with organically grown varieties of Arabica beans in small, 12-ounce bags of superior grades of coffee.

Now, you’ll see that the major coffee companies are introducing their jugs of ground coffee, made of 100% Arabica beans, just in order to regain their edge in the market. Coffee is big business and consumers are beginning to appreciate the flavor and aroma of the smaller grower’s offerings. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but make a nice weekend treat. However, there is a way to enjoy this special treat on a daily basis. From stage left, enters the coffee grinder.

No matter how small your home town, chances are you have a local coffee shop which sells whole coffee beans. Some shops roast their own green coffee beans, providing the very freshest product you can find. You’d be amazed at the difference between a commercial ground coffee in a vacuum sealed container and freshly roasted beans. Even in a vacuum sealed container, much of the original robust flavor and aroma are lost in the process of roasting, grinding, packaging and transportation time required before that coffee end up in your coffee maker. No matter how good the beans were to begin with, the essential oils evaporate in all of this processing, resulting in a subsequent loss of flavor. Let’s see what goes into the perfect cup of coffee. The coffee grinder plays an essential role.

1.Find a coffee shop which roasts their own beans in house. With coffee, time is of the essence. Buy a pound of these freshly roasted beans and a coffee grinder. You can purchase a good electric grinder for about $20. A coffee grinder will last for years, so it’s really a small investment in your favorite daily beverage.

2.Store the coffee beans in the freezer, with the bag folded shut tightly, with as little air remaining in the bag as possible. This prevents the loss of those essential oils, which are at the heart of a superior cup of coffee.

3.When you’re ready to brew, fill the grinder to the rim with the beans. Put the lid on the coffee grinder and press down with a pulsating motion, a couple of seconds on and then off. You’ll be able to see through the clear lid of the grinder to approximate the fineness of the grind. It takes but a few seconds to grind the coffee. The amount of beans that will fit in the bowl of the grinder should be enough to make 4-6 cups, according to your preference.

4.Pour the ground coffee into the basket of your coffee maker and brew. Fabulous!

To clean the grinder, all it takes is a single paper towel to wipe it out. It’s all ready to go for your next pot. The only caveat? Don’t use your coffee grinder for any other purpose, such as grinding herbs. Even though the bowl of the grinder is typically of stainless steel, it will pick up the flavor of other foods.

Freshly roasted coffee beans, stored airtight in the freezer and freshly ground for each pot is the perfect recipe for the very best cup of coffee you’ve ever had!

Now I like classics and antiques as much as the next person, but as far as design goes, you can not beat contemporary furniture. Up until a few years ago, my house was filled with bulky, cumbersome antique furniture. I had a cast iron bed frame from at least a hundred years ago, antique Asian cupboards and wardrobes, and a lamp in the shape of a Greek statue. To look at it now, the difference is like night and day. Nowadays, my house is filled with the most modern furniture that I can find.

I first got into contemporary furniture when I went with my college-aged daughter on a trip to IKEA. Although the contemporary Scandinavian furniture that they sell there is affordable, it is also impressive in many ways. To be honest, I had never seen such novel thinking in home furnishings before. Everything was efficient, colorful, simple, and inexpensive – a perfect combination for young people just getting out in the world. Although the quality of some of the contemporary furniture there was not up to my usual standards (everything is cheaply made and cheaply sold), it certainly did get me thinking about the possibilities.

I started off by looking at contemporary office furniture. To be honest, I have been unhappy with the look of my office for quite a while. It still has one of those huge, industrial strength metal desks that were so popular in the 1970s. In some ways I respect it. Although it is ugly, it is also well made, with plenty of space to work. Nonetheless, I did not need something nearly so big and clunky. I looked at a few pieces of contemporary Italian furniture, and found something that suited my needs much better. It was a truly minimal design – little more than a drafting table – and yet it had a certain elegance to it that I could not help but admire. Soon, my whole office was looking sleek and modern.

The next thing that I looked at was some contemporary bedroom furniture. I figured that the bedroom was the ideal place to experiment with contemporary furniture, because it would be much simpler to furnish than my kitchen, dining room, or den. I got a low profile bed, designed with broad, simple, modern lines. It was a beautiful design, and it went along well with the contemporary recliner that I had installed next. Soon, my whole house was outfitted with simple, clean, contemporary furniture.
